In thinking about our move back to the east coast we were talking one night about how amazing it would be to drive across the country instead of fly. We would get to see so many things that we would never have made a trip out to do, like Mt. Rushmore, and experience what it's like in another part of the country. Our move has been a long time coming and now that it is finally upon us we really want to make sure that we capture the whole experience since I'm quite confident that we'll never do this ever again.
We went to AAA and got about 100 maps. One for the entire country that is now tacked up on a board so we can plan out the drive and then one of every state that we potentially could go through. I thought that giving us 2 weeks was more than enough time, but as it turns out it's just about perfect.
So far we have pretty much mapped out all the sites that we are going to see and are now figuring out where to stay at each destination and potentially how long we're going to stay there. We don't want to be that rigid with our time, but on the same point we are driving a significant amount of miles each day and don't want to arrive at our hotel at midnight or spend an entire day driving. The kids need to have the opportunity to run around and do something fun each day and that is our goal.
And so the adventure begins.........
